Make polished short-term pop-up shops accessible and affordable for small businesses.
Provide small businesses with physical shops with an additional stream of income to support them.
High streets in the UK lack individuality and flavour – and this affects the local community.
There is media focus on reviving vacant spots – but we should be focusing on sustaining existing businesses.
NOOK connects small businesses with empty corners of local shops, transforming underused space into vibrant pop-up opportunities.
By making the pop-up process easy and sustainable through matching users up using a circular marketplace, NOOK supports and strengthens both local economies and communities.
With NOOK, small business owners (NOOKhoppers) can create affordable, low-risk and low-commitment pop-up experiences – without the stress of managing every detail.
Whether they’re short on time, inspiration, or experience, NOOK streamlines the process from concept to event day. By matching users to appropriate spaces that are both suited and compatible with their products, this allows businesses to reach their target market.
Personalised templates are used to bring ideas to life effortlessly, with NOOK handling all the manufacturing and delivery logistics. With a circular item marketplace and organised projects, NOOK helps to give items a second life, while also reducing costs for NOOKhoppers, and reduce multiple delivery journeys.
Business owners with physical shops (NOOKhosts) can turn unused spaces into a flexible source of income. Users can choose their available dates as well as the prices they want to receive. Using a streamlined platform like NOOK makes interactions and hosting pop-up events safe, reliable and easy.
By hosting pop-ups in the corner of their shops, they can gain income, footfall and support other small businesses. With the matching system, NOOKhosts get the opportunity to host like-minded businesses, where both users can benefit from each other’s products and services.
Building these networks can stimulate growth and connections to the local community. NOOK sustains small businesses and revitalises the high streets one corner at a time.

The brief for Starpack was to design a front of store display for the Lynx GOAT fragrance. With the slogan ‘Fragrance That Lasts’, I took on the theme of retro vs ‘new’ gaming systems, symbolising how the Lynx scent has succeeded for generations.
I designed a full-size working prototype of the display, aiming to utilise sight, smell and touch – mainly through the interactive arcade feature, where the scent could be revealed by pulling the ‘lever’.

Here are a few of my favourite structural design projects I designed during my placement year at Once Upon a Time. I learnt ArtiosCAD, and developed the ability to efficiently create net structure designs for retail manufacture, balancing material use with build efficiency. I mostly worked on cardboard POS health and beauty display units, with a few bespoke concept designs.
