SavvyU

Smarter Habits. Brighter Futures.

The Opportunity

Every year, thousands of students enter university unprepared for financial independence. They are given more money than ever before, but they often lack practical advice on how to manage it. Without the right support, this can lead to depression, poor academic performance, and even alcohol dependency, negatively impacting their overall well-being and university experience.

The Response

SavvyU is a financial wellbeing platform that partners with universities to support first-years in developing sustainable financial habits during their transition to university life.

By providing accessible guidance and actionable advice, SavvyU is shaping a future in which, by 2030, more than 70% of students confidently manage their finances—a significant increase from 20% in 2025, when money struggles were seen as a normal part of student life.

How SavvyU Supports Students?

Upon joining SavvyU, students connect their bank accounts and set personalised budgets and financial goals for the academic year. Based on their past banking activity and budget, SavvyU calculates an initial financial health score. To boost this score, students engage in a range of tiered activities earning rewards such as Savvy Stars to boost their score, free event tickets, and exclusive deals from local businesses all designed to motivate and support their financial growth.

Money Goals that Matter

Setting goals on SavvyU helps students prepare for real-life costs like rent, emergencies or gifts, with universities adding recommendations to make goals more useful and relevant.

Financial Health at a Glance

The Financial Health Score reflects how well a student manages their money. It’s influenced by spending habits, budgeting activity, completed challenges, and engagement with learning tools.

Rewards for Real Progress

Helping students build better financial habits through university competitions, personal challenges, and interactive quizzes. They earn rewards like free campus meals and boost their SavvyU score along the way.

Support That Gets You

The SavvyU Community connects students with trained finance buddies and student advisors for real support, real answers, and a space to share wins, worries, and tips.
