Itself-in-itself inhabits a space of quiet tension—where material contradictions and repeated forms suggest a self, both emerging and dissolving. Suspended and circular, the work gestures toward continuity, yet resists resolution, existing somewhere between what is held and what slips away.
Inspired by Deleuze’s concept of the self, this work explores how identity turns inward during moments of anguish and despair.

“a tendency to act in certain ways, a particular view of the world and a future which although may not be fixed, may be predicted (…) Value becomes objectified in, or rather merged with, the In-itself.”
Craib, 1976
The fragmented form takes inspiration from Sartre’s concept of consciousness and the inability to disentange thoughts, particularly those that lead to dilemma or crisis. In this tangled space, reason begins to fracture—and something darker waits in the silence between thoughts.
