Hi I'm Matt. I am a graphic/motion designer who specialises in typography, 3D animation and branding. My work combines bold type with rhythmic motion to create immersive brand identities.

The Bridge Sessions

The Bridge Sessions bring together jazz musicians and hip-hop artists to create an entry point into jazz for new audiences. Through collaborative performances and hands-on workshops, the event builds a like-minded community while exploring jazz culture, its roots, and its deep influence on hip-hop through sampling and improvisation.

Guardians of Aotearoa

The Fast Track Approvals Act in Aotearoa (New Zealand is accelerating development projects that are causing significant, often irreversible damage to native forests. Despite mounting evidence collected by local governments, environmental organisations, and communities, these voices are being sidelined, and the public remains largely unaware of the scale of destruction.

Treating typography used not just as text but as a visual form has the potential to express environmental data. By projecting environmental damage data onto the type an emotional and accessible connection can be made between the information and the viewer while giving silenced voices a way to be heard.

This typographic campaign translates data collected by environmental organisations into forest growth over the type visualising the damage caused by projects approved through the Fast Track Approvals Act. Through public digital displays, website, social media and posters the campaign empowers environmental groups to reclaim space in the public conversation and spread awareness of the damage on Aotearoa’s forests while turning invisible data into a visible and urgent message.

Ripple

Music is more than a digital file or a fleeting thirty-second clip. It has the power to create culture, start movements and transcend time. Music creates lasting memories and deserves to be experienced in its fullest form. Ripple promotes and sells sustainable records to create a community focussed on bettering the records we love. We aim to make the memories and passion of music the only mark left on the planet by records. Whether you’re a collector who enjoys the warm analogue crackle of your favourite record or an artist who wants a timeless format for your passion project, you’re part of the Ripple Effect. To grow the community Ripple works with Record Store Day.

The popularity of animated records (phenakistoscopes) has grown along with records, gaining more popularity on social media in recent years. The animation is engaging to young creatives but also attracts attention from artists looking to grow their platform through releasing unique records like the one above.
