Aether is a compact and portable clothes-drying device crafted for modern, space-conscious living. It uses advanced airflow technology to gently dry garments, protecting even the most delicate fabrics and providing odour and crease free clothing. Ideal for confined spaces, Aether offers an energy-efficient alternative to bulky dryers, all wrapped in a sleek, minimalist design.

Why is Aether a neccessity?

• Traditional tumble dryers are bulky, energy-intensive, and often unsuitable for small living spaces like apartments, dorms, or shared accommodations.

• According to the UK Energy Saving Trust, tumble dryers can account for up to 10% of a household’s electricity usage — with many models using 2.5–4.5 kWh per cycle.

• In cities where space is a premium, more than 30% of renters lack access to outdoor drying areas or full-sized laundry appliances (UK ONS, 2021).

How does Aether make a difference?

• Compact & Portable: Aether is designed for small homes and confined spaces like university accommodation, making drying possible without the need for large appliances or dedicated laundry rooms.

• Energy-Efficient: Operating at a fraction of the energy used by conventional dryers, Aether helps reduce household energy consumption and electricity bills.

• Gentle on Fabrics: It preserves the quality and longevity of garments by using low heat and soft airflow — ideal for delicate materials.

• Time-Saving: In contrast to air-drying (which can take 10–12 hours), Aether significantly speeds up the process while maintaining fabric care in as fast as 2 hours!

• Eco-Friendly: By reducing reliance on energy-intensive dryers, Aether supports a shift toward low-impact, responsible living.

• Odour-Free Drying: Advanced airflow prevents damp buildup and stale smells often caused by indoor air-drying.

Ease of use – User interface

Aether features a simple, intuitive user interface designed for effortless operation. With clearly labelled, tactile buttons and icon-based modes for t-shirts, hoodies, trousers, and general use (utility mode), users can start drying with a single press. Its clean layout eliminates confusion, making it easy for anyone to achieve perfect results. No manuals, no guesswork.

User Testing

User testing was conducted to evaluate Aether’s usability, functionality, and overall user satisfaction. Participants interacted with the product in real-world settings, focusing on setup, interface clarity, drying effectiveness, and portability. Feedback highlighted the intuitive button layout and appreciated the garment-specific modes. Testing confirmed Aether’s ease of use and value in compact living environments, guiding refinements toward a more user-centred design.
