SpotiFLY is an in-flight mental wellness app extension of Spotify, designed to support anxious flyers.
It provides a compact, accessible, and unmedicated solution offering personalised tools like calming audio, an offline AI Travel Buddy, and real-time turbulence insights to help users feel calm, in control, and supported through every stage of their flight.

SpotiFLY is available on a wide range of devices, including iPhone, iPad, and laptop making it accessible to users wherever and however they travel.
One of its key features is the AI Travel Buddy. An offline, in-flight companion that offers real-time support. It provides calming tools, top tips, mindfulness guidance, and personalised recommendations, all based on the user’s needs. With in-the-moment conversation and emotional check-ins, it helps ease anxiety throughout the journey and operates fully in airplane mode, so support is always available, even without Wi-Fi.

The Main Dashboard is the central area of SpotiFLY, offering five key support sections: Turbulent Trivia, Distraction Terminal, Listen and Learn, CBT, and The Feels.
Each section provides personalised tools designed to help users manage their specific challenges during the flight. From fun, game-based distractions to guided cognitive behavioural therapy and emotion-regulating audio, every feature is tailored to support common triggers associated with aerophobia and in-flight anxiety.
THE QUIZ
The quiz is part of SpotiFLY’s onboarding process. It’s a quick and simple way for users to input their phobias and personal needs. Based on their answers, the app creates a personalised support plan that feels relevant and helpful throughout the entire flight.

The Turbulent Forecast is a key feature of SpotiFLY, designed specifically for anxious flyers who are triggered by turbulence — one of the most common causes of in-flight anxiety.
This tool provides a real-time overview of the flight path, highlighting when and where turbulence is expected. It includes visual indicators, live updates on pitch, roll, and air pressure, and short lessons that explain what these changes mean in simple, reassuring terms.
By giving users a clearer understanding of what’s happening and what to expect, the Turbulent Forecast helps reduce uncertainty, ease panic, and put control back in the hands of the passenger.

SpotiFLY can connect to wearable devices such as Apple Watch, Garmin, and Oura Ring. These integrations allow the app to respond to real-time physical signals like increased heart rate, body temperature, or signs of stress.
When triggered, SpotiFLY sends personalised calming prompts, breathing techniques, or reminders straight to your device offering discreet, in-the-moment support when it’s needed most.

SpotiFLY began with wireframe layouts created in Figma, where I planned out key screens and features across the flight journey. This helped me decide which tools were needed and when they’d be most useful. I focused on building the onboarding stage and cruising phase into a fully interactive prototype. While the design prioritised user experience, I also made sure it visually aligned with Spotify’s UI, while giving SpotiFLY its own identity within the brand.
