My project looks into music advertisement through time. It explores the creative and social aspects of music in the 1960's, 1980's and 2000's, with the outcome of three album covers, designed in the styles of these eras.

Advertising Velvet Rose:

What would happen if the same band existed in different points in time?

That was the question I explored in my project, using a range of materials and digital techniques to explore album cover design in the 1960’s, 1980’s and 2000s, with the aim of creating three individual covers, each representative of an era and advertising my fictional band ‘Velvet Rose’. I wanted to capture recurring themes of each time, experimenting with relevant creative methods (such as mark-making, printing techniques and digital editing) to reach my conclusions.

1980’s inspired cassette labels and case insert.
