Phone theft has been an ongoing issue in London, with reports revealing that tourists remain the most targeted group. As thieves seek newer phones for profit – and with dumb phones gaining popularity on social media, giffgaff launches its boldest campaign yet- the Buzzkill phone. Vending machines will be placed at busy airports, allowing tourists to hire giffgaff’s refurbished dumb phones – each packed with unlimited data, free calls, and pre-installed navigation and translation apps. The campaign aims to promote safer travel, give second life to refurbished devices and of course, kill the buzz of hustling thieves.
