elvo is a reimagined kitchen bin designed to solve the everyday frustrations of waste disposal. With a unique drawer-based system and internal folding arms, it removes the need for awkward lifting, stuck bags, and messy clean-ups – making the whole process smoother, cleaner, and more accessible.

The Problem

Why do we put up with bad bins?

Bin bags get stuck. Waste builds up around the rim. Lifting full bags is awkward – especially for older users or those with limited mobility. For something we use every day, the experience and the design hasn’t kept up.

The Solution

elvo replaces awkward lifting with a smooth drawer-based system and internal folding arms that collapse the bin bag. The user can then remove the bin bag laterally from the drawer with just one hand.

This makes waste removal cleaner, easier, and more accessible – no mess, no strain, no fuss.

Design for Manufacture

elvo is designed to be simple to make and easy to scale. The main shell uses lightweight, durable aluminium (5052-H32) which is CNC pressed, while key internal parts are injection-moulded in ABS and PA66. It can be assembled in under 5 minutes, uses standard materials, and is built with recyclability and efficient production in mind.

BarnBright is a durable, energy-efficient lighting system for dairy barns, designed to boost milk yield and animal comfort with circadian-friendly lighting. Its self-clamping mount enables quick, tool-free installation, while sealed, ammonia-resistant materials ensure long-lasting performance in harsh farm environments.

LUX – Design for Impact Group Project

LUX is a helmet-mounted LiDAR mapping system designed to overcome the limitations of traditional 2D cave maps. By capturing high-resolution 3D spatial data in real time, LUX produces accurate, detailed models of complex underground environments. This project demonstrates my ability to develop practical, technology-driven solutions for inspecting hard-to-reach and challenging areas.
