My work explores the tension between visibility and privacy, beauty and objectification. I’m interested in how feminine subjects can exist outside the gaze in stillness and ambiguity, resisting the pressure to perform, explain, or be fully seen.

Exhibited Work

My current body of work consists of large, monochromatic oil paintings exploring stillness, ambiguity, and interiority. Centred on the female figure, the works resist objectification and invite quiet reflection, forming a contemplative space that holds back more than it reveals. The pacing and scale encourage a slower way of looking, where presence feels both intimate and distant.

Creative Process

I work with oil on canvas, using a limited, cool-toned palette. Each painting is built up gradually through thin layers of paint, allowing me to create subtle shifts in light and form. The process is slow and meditative. Taking time to let the image emerge gradually without force reflects the stillness and interiority I’m trying to hold in the work.
In the lead-up to the exhibition, I’ve contemplated how these works sit together and how they can hold space for stillness and subtle variation across a room. Through experimentation with the orientation of the pieces, I’ve considered how to let the paintings speak to one another without forcing a clear narrative.
