My degree show, ‘Her Flesh, Their Fantasy‘, is made up of a series of photographs and MDF sculptures. The commonality within the two disciplines is the crimson-haired, faceless character. She embodies the feelings of sexual objectification while ultimately maintaining a perfectly hyper-feminine, but artificial, expectation. Using photography and digital manipulation, I craft glamorous yet uncanny scenes. My recent photography collection offers a personal commentary on the sexualisation of starlets and celebrities, highlighting how admirers become so consumed by objectification that the individuality of the face becomes irrelevant. I also incorporate oil paint and resin on my MDF sculptures to produce life size cutouts, materialising an obsession with the character as she is quite literally objectified.
My degree show is designed as an intimate “peep show”, challenging viewers to confront normalised notions of misogyny woven into society’s perceptions of beauty and desire.
In preparing for the degree show exhibition, I refined my detailed process for applying a thick resin finish — a method that demanded precision, as even small inconsistencies in temperature, mixing time, or ratios could cause issues. After completing two life-sized cutouts, I finally mastered it.

At the same time, I advanced my photography practice by re-shooting my favorite images with a high-quality camera to capture the resolution needed for large-scale prints. I then refined the most effective images in Photoshop and Lightroom, removing traces of humanity and amplifying their uncanny qualities.

In my third year, I took the opportunity to explore some career options to narrow down a path for my future.

Recently, I have been expanding my skills within digital illustration using platforms such as Procreate. I experimented with a parody of a Grand Theft Auto loading screen with my redhead character.
After producing my personal logo, I was commissioned by the group Modern Masculinity to help create a unique logo to represent their mission. The team advocates for healthier expressions of masculinity, that empowers without causing harm to oneself or others. Their message resonates deeply with the themes I explore in my own work, and I’m grateful to have contributed to such a meaningful cause.
