My collection of patterns is based on outdoor activities which I enjoy doing with family and friends (walking/hiking, climbing, and skiing). I wanted to use this enthusiasm and love of nature to be the basis for my project as it’s something I enjoy and knew it would encourage me to develop my work to the best of my ability.
Throughout this project, I have explored photography, colour, working both digitally and physically (including using threads to wrap around objects, sketching/exploring different drawing methods, creating repeating patterns using tracing paper and Lino, collage and cyanotype printing) as well as improving my skills on photoshop. To create my digital patterns, I used the subjects from the photos I had taken and used procreate to arrange and add appropriate colours to them based on my colour scheme and intended audience.
I feel as though this project has been successful for me and I have learnt so much throughout it which I will continue to develop further on the textiles degree course here at Loughborough.
