My interests have always lain in how I can process my interpretation of different experiences, illustrating songs, films and memories to create a portfolio showing the world through my eyes.
The Velvet Underground and Nico
The Velvet Underground and Nico Accordion CD Case
Context
Throughout the project I have explored the imagery I associate with the music created by The Velvet Underground and Nico. I have used collage to gather information, before pushing these pieces into 3D form, prints, ink illustrations and animation, which I have combined in this tactile CD case.
Each page is a combination of emulsion printing, mono printing, found imagery, illustration and handmade paper, arranged and curated to communicate the mood and atmosphere the music evokes for me.
The cover is created from antique lace, fossilised shells, real fur (sourced second hand,) hand embroidered letters and a cameo brooch.
This short stop motion animation was inspired by the song ‘All Tomorrow’s Parties,’ and was created using found objects and handmade props. This animation will be projected onto a blank page of the CD case, so that it plays alongside the other imagery.
