I am a contemporary artist whose practice explores disrupted self-recognition, by manipulating reflective materials, creating visual disruptions to express emotional and psychological complexities of identity. My work encourages viewers to confront their own perceptions through fragmented and shifting visual experiences.

Distrupted Reflection

My practice is rooted in autobiographical experiences of mental health, specifically the disorienting phenomenon of disrupted self-recognition as encountered through my own interactions with mirror reflections.

The body of work emerges from lived experiences with self-reflections, where periods of dissociation and emotional distress have resulted in a profound disconnection from my own reflection. The mirror, instead of acknowledging the self, become a point of alienation.

The distortions act as metaphors for psychological fragmentation, and more specifically, the tension between internal self-reflection and external visual identity. I responded to this experience by working with reflective and distorting materials such as resin, silver leaf, mirror, and adhesive films to give physical shapes to these psychological states. Resulting installations—‘80 Cube Collection’, ‘Untitled No.1’, and ‘Untitled No.2’—fragment and obscure the viewer’s reflection, evoking the psychological state of alienation and disconnection from the self.

80 Cube Collection

This installation of ’80 Cube Collection’ reflects a deeply personal exploration of mental health, self-perception, and the fragmented nature of identity. Each cube represents a single thought, emotion, or moment—neatly arranged, yet each one carrying its own imperfections. As you move closer, the shiny, crinkled surfaces catch your reflection in strange, broken ways—distorting your image like the way your mind sometimes distorts how you see yourself.

Untitled No.1

Unitised No.1, 160cm x 20cm, 2025

This piece, made with layered resin over mirror, reflects the disorienting and often isolating experience of struggling with mental health. The reflections are flipped, multiplied, and scattered—just like the way our thoughts can feel when we’re in a low place. You see yourself, but not quite clearly—your image is upside down or broken apart, like trying to recognise yourself through a fog. The repeated patterns mimic the mental loops we can get stuck in, the kind that play over and over when it’s hard to break free. It’s an honest and vulnerable expression of what it’s like to feel disconnected from yourself.

Untitled No.2, Multi-size Shapes, 2025

The irregular metallic shapes flowing from the wall to the floor reflect a personal journey through moments of chaos and control. As they stretch from the vertical plane of the wall to the grounded stability of the floor, they trace a descent or perhaps a grounding—a movement between the inner world and external reality. The mirrored surfaces catch and distort reflections, making the viewer a part of the work, yet never quite whole or still.

Material – Resin, Silver Leaf

Ultimately, my practice is a confrontation with the reflections-a space where personal experience, material exploration, and theoretical discourse collide. In these works, the self is not fixed, but fractured, suspended between the visual and the felt.
